The beta subunit is a non-DNA binding regulatory subunit; it allosterically enhances DNA binding by alpha subunit as the complex binds to the core site of various enhancers and promoters， including murine leukemia virus， polyomavirus enhancer， T-cell receptor enhancers and GM-。
