维也纳约翰施特劳斯管弦乐团
维也纳约翰施特劳斯管弦乐团的首演，至今仍是维也纳音乐发展史上的一个里程碑。当时的人，和现在一样，普遍渴望欣赏到一个高品位的音乐演奏会。大约在施特劳斯的乐团事业创建了的120年后，也就是1965年，为了响应人们对高品位音乐的追求，在约翰·施特劳斯的侄孙——爱德华·施特劳斯的指导下，一些维也纳音乐家组成团队，成立了维也纳施特劳斯乐团。

Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra
The debut of the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra remains a milestone of the development of
Viennese music. Then as now, the desire for musical entertainment on a high level was
widespread. About 120 years after the establishment of Strauss' orchestra, in 1965, the Vienna
Johann Strauss Orchestra was founded in response to that desire by a group of Viennese
musicians under the direction of Eduard Strauss, grand-nephew of Johann Strauss.
The orchestra chose as its mission and primary task the promotion of not only the music
created by the Strauss dynasty but also of the Viennese music in general. Its first tour of the
United States, lasting a full six weeks, began only a few months after its founding and followed
the footsteps of the original Strauss ensemble, led on several tours of the U.S. by great-uncle
Eduard. (In the end, that great-uncle would dissolve the orchestra in New York, 1891.)
After Eduard Strauss' all too early death in 1969, Willy Boskovsky became the primary
conductor of the orchestra; To this day, his name is linked to the tradition of the New Year's
Concert and to the music of Johann Strauss like no other. With Boskovsky leading them with
both baton and bow, the ensemble has begun touring across Europe, the U.S.A., South America,
Corea, China, and of course Japan. Also part of the Boskovsky-era was a much intensified
schedule of recordings that culminated in a series of sessions in the 1970s that saw nearly the
entire oeuvre of the Strauss Dynasty recorded anew for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation.
After the death of Boskovsky, the orchestra was accompanied in its travel- and concert-activity
mostly by three conductors: Walter Goldschmid, Rudolf Bibl and especially Kurt Wöss.
In the more recent past, personages such as Alfred Eschwé, Franz Bauer-Theussel and Martin
Sieghart led the ensemble; currently, the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra works closely with
the Austrian conductor Johannes Wildner and has its own concert series in the Golden Hall of
the Wiener Musikverein.

Johannes Wildner studied conducting, violin and musicology in Vienna and in Italy and has
established himself as one of the foremost Austrian conductors. His years of experience as a
member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra have given his conducting a distinctive stamp.
After positions as Chief Conductor of Prague State Opera and First Permanent Conductor of
Leipzig Opera, Johannes Wildner was the General Music Director of the New Philharmonic
Orchestra of Westphalia (Germany) for ten years from 1997. He has been appointed Principal
Guest Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in London with effect from September 2010
and regularly conducts the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra.
He has regularly appeared as a guest conductor in major opera houses such as the Tokyo New
National Theatre, the Arena di Verona, Leipzig, Volksoper Vienna, Graz, Salzburg, Prague and
Zagreb State Opera, and with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the
London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the St. Petersburg
Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony, the China Philharmonic, the
Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
Johannes Wildner has recorded over 60 CDs, DVDs and videos.
