相较于他的第二号和第三号钢琴协奏曲，拉赫玛尼诺夫的第一钢琴协奏曲，被较少演奏和录制，然而该曲在世界钢琴文献中，同样也是一部非常优秀的作品。这首被列为拉氏作品编号op.1的作品的魅力和价值，还在于处于1917年俄德交战俄国国内的动荡时局的拉赫玛尼诺夫对其进行的修改。因为作品的不断“成长”，拉氏的一些风格演变也从中得到了体现。陈燮阳将执棒上海交响乐团，携青年钢琴家袁芳，带您追寻拉赫玛尼诺夫的艺术足迹。

Compared with his second and third piano concerto, Rachmaninov’s first piano concerto was relatively less played or recorded, but it is also an excellent contribution to the classical music repertoire. The value of this concerto also lies in the constant modification by the composer in the turbulent political situation of Russia in 1917. The concerto witnessed the evolving of Rachmaninov’s style. SSO under Chen Xieyang with Yuan Fang’s piano will lead you in the exploration of the footsteps of Rachmaninov’s art and heart.

2013 is the 150th anniversary of Richard Strauss. In memory of this German composer who had made a great contribution to the repertoire of symphonic poems and program music, Eschenbach and SSO will present for you two pieces of his work: the symphonic poem adapted from Byron’s long poem Don Juan and Der Rosenkavalier the renowned opera in three acts. The American pianist Tzimon Barto will spare no efforts to play Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto that best foreshadows Strauss’s works.

两首风格迥异的贝多芬弦乐四重奏构成了本场音乐会的主题。由上海四重奏首先带来明朗的《A大调第五弦乐四重奏》，从中可以听出些许莫扎特的影子；而他们与上海交响乐团成员联袂演绎的晚期作品《升c小调第十四弦乐四重奏》，却是完全贝多芬式的表达，以及作家阿城说的逝世前八个月贝多芬“生理上疼痛和愤怒”。穿插其间的，是一首弦乐队作品《斗牛士的祈祷》，来自西班牙作曲家华金•图里纳。本季上海四重奏和上海交响乐团的第二次演出，开启了该作品在中国的首演。

Two string quartets from Beethoven form the main course of this concert. It may be sensed that there are some Mozart's reminiscence from the lucid style of the String Quartet No.5 in A major, commenced by Shanghai Quartet, while the String Quartet No.14 in C sharp minor, joined by the musicians from SSO, was totally “Beethoven” from which you can even hear--just as what the Chinese writer A Cheng said--the physical pain and psychological anger of Beethoven in his latest years fighting against his fate. Intermediating between the two quartets is an orchestral work from Spanish composer Joaquín Turina-- “La Oración del Torero”, the work whose Chinese premiere will be released through this cooperation between Shanghai Quartet and SSO.

Wang Liang, the Chinese virtuoso and the first-chair clarinetist of New York Philharmonic Orchestra together with Philip Myers the first-chair horn player from NYPO will join Long Yu’s SSO in the performance of the Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni, Oboe Concerto in C Major, K.314 and Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto No.1 in E flat Major, Op.11, from which the magic of the wind concertos can be fully exhibited. What is worth mentioning is Oboe Concerto in C Major is the only concerto Mozart had ever written for the Oboe instrument.

Piano Concerto No.9 in E flat major, K.271 reflects the strong personality of Mozart, the unique sense for simplicity and naturalness which you can hear between the fingers of the little pianist Yalun Wang. In Das Lied von der Erde, the Orchestral Suite Mahler composed based on his interpretation of the German translation of the seven Chinese ancient poems, the tenors accompanied by the orchestra will approximate the most common emotion and images from the Chinese poems, such as the departure, the wine or the beauty, from which the music lovers can get to know how the music that sought to explore fundamental human feelings can transcend the borders of geography and culture.
