音乐会曲目说明:

上半场主题是“新年音乐环球之旅”,从纽约百老汇出发(“大乐团”金曲集锦),经爱尔兰(大河之舞)、到法国和德国(奥芬巴赫是德国出生的法国人,作品兼备德国的庄重和法国的热情)、到中国(管弦乐:山丹丹开花红艳艳), 再回到美国(钢琴协奏曲“蓝色狂想曲”),表现世界同庆2012新年;

下半场回归“维也纳新年音乐会”传统,再现斯特劳斯和维也纳经典。其中克莱斯勒是奥地利著名的小提琴家,他以维也纳舞曲风格创作的小提琴独奏曲为世界所喜爱;贝多芬更是维也纳作曲家之一,他的“欢乐颂”是世界各地新年音乐会的必演曲目。至于小斯特劳斯的《蝙蝠》序曲和《蓝色多瑙河》圆舞曲,更是新年音乐会经典中的经典。

American Festival Orchestra

美国节日交响乐团聚集了近百位来自美国各地的才华横溢的专业音乐家,现任音乐总监和指挥是伯恩斯坦指挥学者和美国指挥大奖获得者劳伦斯•格蓝博士。作为大型交响乐团,乐团除了在美国举办音乐会外,并应邀到世界各地巡回演出,受到广泛的好评。乐团还定期举办免费音乐会,从而实现乐团的使命:让每一个人都能体验音乐的美好和生命力。

美国节日交响乐团的演奏曲目广泛,包括从德奥传统的贝多芬、布拉姆斯交响乐作品,到民族乐派的格里格、德沃夏克土风舞曲,到“强力集团”俄国音画, 再到李斯特、斯特劳斯的交响音诗以及马勒、德彪西、肖斯塔科维奇、普罗科菲耶夫等各个时期作曲家的经典音乐作品。乐团的音乐家们在格兰博士的带领下,用其高雅的艺术造诣诠释出作曲家人性的光辉,为听众带来美的享受……同时, 乐团也热情积极演奏美国作曲家格什温、科普兰、伯恩斯坦的作品,受到美国观众和世界各地人士的喜爱。

美国节日交响乐团的2012年新年音乐会,将为中国观众带来色彩斑斓的节日曲目- 从约翰•斯特劳斯的经典圆舞曲,到柴可夫斯基的永恒的芭蕾舞音乐,再到格什温的《蓝色狂想曲》以及中国观众耳熟能详的百老汇音乐剧和好莱坞电影金曲。正如音乐总监格兰博士说的那样:“我们期待着在美好的音乐中,与中国观众共同跨入2012年!”。

音乐总监/指挥 劳伦斯•格蓝博士

 

劳伦斯•格蓝博士出身于音乐世家,并在美国著名的印第安纳大学音乐学院获得学士和硕士之后,又在新英格兰音乐学院获得音乐博士学位。作为指挥家,他曾获得伯恩斯坦奖学金,并师从斯帕诺,潘纽拉,辛曼,小泽征尔,迈耶,斯莱特金,艾尔索普,席德林和法波曼等著名指挥家。

格蓝博士曾应邀指挥遍布美国和世界各地的交响乐团,歌剧和芭蕾舞团。他的音乐之旅遍及美国25个州和14个国家,包括在纽约,博尔德,梅肯,孟菲斯,棕榈滩,波特兰,图森,台北和意大利。作为驻团指挥,格蓝博士受到高度评价:“格蓝是乐团有史以来最佳驻团指挥”,乐团的首席执行官格里森说,“他是一个具有前所未有的创造力和范围的指挥家”。

每年夏天,格蓝博士任教于著名的音乐指挥学府-纽约巴德学院指挥研究所。他最近又应邀加入了指挥家协会的权威指导委员会,为来自世界各地的音乐指挥提供咨询意见。

钢琴家科塞得教授

钢琴家瓦尔特.科塞得是美国亚利桑那州立大学音乐教授,同时也是一位经验丰富的独奏家和室内乐演奏家。他的演奏曲目包括30多首不同风格的 钢琴协奏曲以及广泛的室内乐曲目。除了在美国各地演奏,他曾应邀在澳大利亚,亚洲,加拿大,俄罗斯和欧洲开音乐会。他的演奏受到纽约时报、旧金山纪事报、亚利桑那共和报和一些音乐刊物的高度赞扬和好评。

除了演奏经典曲目,科塞得教授也是一位深受当代作曲家欢迎的钢琴家。

他曾应邀为作曲家 William Albright,William Bolcom,David Diamond 以及RodneyRogers 的作品举办世界首演。他的演奏被美国公共广播电台,澳大利亚广播电台,巴伐利亚广播电台,韩国有线电视和斯维尔德洛夫斯克州广播电台播放。

Walter Cosand,pianist and Professor of Music at Arizona State University,studied at Eastman School of Music with Cecile Genhart and Barry Snyder. He also studied with Joerg Demus in Europe on a grant from the DAAD. He has won several significant awards including the Eastman Concerto Competition,the grand prize from the International Piano Recording Competition and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.

He has been favorably reviewed in the New York Times,the San Francisco Chronicle,the Arizona Republic,and several music periodicals. In addition to playing throughout the United States,he has performed in Australia,Asia,Canada,Russia and Europe. An experienced recitalist and chamber music performer,he has also performed thirty different concertos.

He has commissioned new music from William Albright,William Bolcom,David Diamond and Rodney Rogers. He has been heard on National Public Radio,the Australian Broadcasting Corporation,Bayerischer Rundfunk,Korean Cable Television,AMD-TV Beijing and Sverdlovsk Radio. In 2004 he played in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall,New York City. He performed and taught classes at Central Conservatory of Music,Beijing,China,in 2006.

He can be heard on ACA Digital,Advance,ARF,Canyon,Centaur,DPS,JIGU,Koch and Summit recordings. Mr. Cosand is a Steinway Artist.

Violinist Katherine McLin enjoys an extremely varied and prolific performing career as a concerto soloist,recitalist,and chamber and orchestral musician. Since her debut with the Oregon Symphony at the age of fifteen,Dr. McLin has made over 40 appearances as soloist with orchestras across the country and the world. Dr.

McLin appears on 14 compact disc recordings under the Summit,Centaur,and Opus One labels and has four additional releases pending for 2010-11. Her most recent project Beau Soir,a disc of French violin/piano duo music with Andrew Campbell,was released on the Summit Records label in 2010 and was a KBAQ CD of the week in February.

A frequent guest recitalist and educator,Dr. McLin gave the featured Violin Master Class at the 2008 National American String Teacher's Association Conference in NM. She has presented master classes at over 50 music schools across the country and abroad,including the University of Michigan,Trinity College (London),North Carolina School for the Arts,Boston University,Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt,Carnegie Mellon University,University of Oklahoma,University of Colorado at Boulder,University of Kansas,University of Oregon,University of Georgia,University of Kentucky,West Virginia University,Texas Christian University,and University of Miami,to name a few.

Dr. McLin received her doctorate in violin performance from the University of Michigan as a student of Paul Kantor. She holds additional performance degrees from Indiana University and the Oberlin College Conservatory,and for three years was an orchestral fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival. Her former teachers include Franco Gulli,Josef Gingold,and Kathleen Winkler.

Dr. McLin plays on a 1734 Sanctus Seraphin violin.

A native of Chicago,Lawrence Golan is from a musical family and holds degrees in both conducting and violin performance from Indiana University's J (B.M. and M.M.) and the New England Conservatory of Music (D.M.A.). In addition,he studied at all of the major conducting festivals including Aspen and Tanglewood,where in 1999 he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Conducting Fellowship. The long list of distinguished conductors with whom Mr. Golan studied includes Robert Spano,Jorma Panula,David Zinman,Seiji Ozawa,Gustav Meier,Leonard Slatkin,Marin Alsop,Murry Sidlin,and Harold FarbermanGolan has been invited to conduct professional orchestras,opera and ballet companies in the United States and around the world. Having conducted in 25 U.S. states and 14 countries,this season includes engagements in Boulder,Macon,Memphis,Palm Beach,Portland,Tucson,Taipei and Italy. As Resident Conductor of The Phoenix Symphony, that orchestra's President and CEO Maryellen Gleason stated that Lawrence Golan was "unequivocally the best Resident Conductor The Phoenix Symphony ever had." Music Director Michael Christie said that Golan "is a programmer of virtually unprecedented creativity and scope."

Each summer,Golan teaches at the renowned Conductor's Institute at Bard College in New York. Along with JoAnn Falletta,he was recently asked to join the Conductors Guild's prestigious Mentoring Committee,which makes itself available to advise conductors from all over the world.

Golan has recorded several professional CDs,both as a conductor and violinist. His recording of Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 has been highly praised by critics: "This is a world-class recording. It is refreshing to hear a recording of a well-known work of concert repertoire done so honestly and so beautifully." (Robin McNeil,In Denver Times). "It stands up to many more-familiar recordings." (Richard Nilsen,The Arizona Republic). Golan's most recent recording,and his first with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra,Beethoven 7 and Beethoven 7.1 by William Hill,will be released by Albany Records later this year.

The 2010-11 season marks Lawrence Golan's 10th year as a professor at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music where he conducts the Lamont Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre and leads one of the most distinguished and highly sought after graduate conducting programs in the United States. During his time in Denver,Golan has won six consecutive Outstanding Merit Awards,five ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music,and the Downbeat Magazine Award for Best College Symphony Orchestra.

Following in the footsteps of his father Joseph Golan,former Principal Second Violinist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,Lawrence Golan is also an accomplished violinist. He was Concertmaster of the Portland Symphony Orchestra for eleven years,and has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras,including the Chicago Symphony. Golan's scholarly-performing edition of the solo violin works of J. S. Bach that includes a handbook on Baroque Performance Practice,and The Lawrence Golan Violin Scale System are both published by Mel Bay Publications. His original composition Fantasia for Solo Violin is published by Ludwig Music.
